Sunday Eats: Gracias Madre

Lunch at Gracias Madre in West Hollywood

I’m a huge fan of Mexican vegan food and had to check GRACIAS MADRE off my “I ate there” list. And on Sunday, I did just that!

I started off by ordering the grilled street corn, then the salsa trio, then I moved on to the main course: flautas de camote (All pictured above)! By then, my waitress was looking at me like, “are you freaking done yet???”

The grilled street corn was my favorite, and I went after that thing like a feral, hungry dog. It was gone as soon as it came. The salsa trio was also pretty amazing, the pico gallo and the pineapple habanero salsa were both pretty savory. I wasn't too crazy about the mango salsa – one sweet and fruity salsa was enough for me! Lastly, the flautas de camote! It was a sweet potato dish wrapped up in crunchy tortilla, and topped off with guacamole and salsa. It was delicious the first couple bites but then the sweet potato just becomes too sweet. I’m not a fan of sweet potato to begin with and should have probably ordered more carefully. But I was in a, “what would you recommend me” mood.

I'm definitely trying the black bean burger or the taco a la carta next time. What's your favorite dish here? What would you recommend?

I did not actually eat these berries but in my mind I did. And mind over matter, right?

Nope…
