Dressing NYFW- Tips to surviving New York winters
New York Fashion Week 2017 officially marks my third time visiting New York City during the brutal winter season. And after multiple visits and many, “I’m on the brink of frostbite” experiences, I’ve gotten extremely pro at layering for warmth. So on my blog today, I thought I’d share some of my tips and tricks for conquering the frigid temperates of New York winters.
I’m also sharing three outfits I wore to New York Fashion Week that kept me warm and stylish. This year was by far the best and busiest NYFW because I had the pleasure of working as a photographer for shows, doing back to back showroom collaborations, and media tastings.
3 festive and cozy holiday looks
First and foremost: MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday season this year!
Today on the blog I am sharing three festive and cozy looks. When I think of dressing for the holidays, I think of vibrant and rich colors, coziness and layers, extravagance and comfort. So naturally, I strove to achieve those qualities with each ensemble. I hope you guys enjoy :)
Thoughts on Goals & Corn
As I was sorting out my hot mess of a desktop, I realized this outfit never made it to my blog. It’s probably one of my favorite outfits of 2016 so how dare I?!? It’s ok self, better late than never. I mean only like ten months late…Which brings me to my next point, which is also an intro to one of my new year's resolutions. And that is, drummer roll please: To not wait one thousand years before blogging an outfit and to blog at least three times a month. Hold on; that's two goals ;)
Grateful in red
I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I have a lot to be thankful for this year. One would be the amazing and genuine friendships I made through blogging. There are some truly inspirational, supportive, and wonderful people in the blogging community that have made my blogger journey so much more meaningful. I truly believe that we all bring something unique to the table and there is enough room for everyone to win. Unless we are playing a game of Laser Tag and you're my opponent, then I am sorry you will lose XP.
Midi Dress Gone Mini
I have never been a red dress type gal. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever been photographed wearing red. However, when I saw this eShakti floral dress, I had to take a risk. And I’m glad I did, because OMG, SO CUTE! Sorry for yelling but yeah..
The best part about this dress was that I got to customize it. In fact, everything on eShakti.com is customizable. What a cool way to shop for clothes! The dress pictured above was originally a v-neck and knee length dress which I customized to be a deep v-neck and mini skirt. I had to go for the v-neck because of my big head (it’s more flattering lol). Can I just get everything in “deep v-neck” from now on??
A Sheers to Pink
You guys, I adore my flowy pink trench/dress/blouse from dezzal.com. It is such a versatile piece that can take on so many different styles like a transformer robot. Ok, well maybe not quite :P
Due to its lightweight silk material, it makes a great outerwear for a hot summer day. You can wear it over basic t-shirt and jeans to add instant glamor or wear it as a dress (just be sure to add a slip underneath as the material is pretty sheer).
If you could invest in one thing from Burberry and one thing only, there are no doubts that it would be their classic heritage trench coat. The one pictured above is the: Kensington Mid-Length Heritage Trench Coat in Stone.
Every high-end brand has a specialty item that they are known for, a particular style, quality, or design aimed to withstand the test of time. Chanel is their iconic ladylike tweed jackets and their classic quilted flap bag. And Burberry, drum roll please-their classic trench coats.
